All I Can Say Is WOW!!!

Good Morning Everyone,

I am sure you are thinking my title is in response to writing two blogs in a week but you would be wrong.

Yesterday was an unusual day. I walked to the mailbox(which is not normal) to get our mail. In our mailbox was a big envelope and a small envelope. Inside the big envelope was our claim information and a couple of checks to help begin repairs. WOW!! Inside the little envelope was a card from a family that my sister worships with at the Shawnee Trail Church of Christ in Frisco Texas. We have met this family two or three times. They have a daughter the same age as my sister's youngest and they play soccer together. Inside this card was a check for $100.00. WOW!!

Fast forward until about an hour before writing this blog. I was talking with my sister on facebook and telling her about my unusual day yesterday. In the course of this conversation my sister informed me that the husband and father of this family(Mike) lost his job last week. These people are so faithful and so generous that even facing rough economic times they saw fit to give April and me $100.00. WOW!! WOW!! and DOUBLE WOW!!

My sister also informed me that Mike has a job interview with United Way in Dallas today. This is a second interview which means there is a good chance he could get this job. Today I am pleading with anyone who reads this to to make today a WOW day for Mike by saying a prayer for him and his family. I hope you are all as blessed by this blog today as I have been blessed from my unusual trip to the mailbox yesterday. WOW!!!

Believe

Good Afternoon Everyone,
What is is that you believe in? This picture exemplifies the world's message of believing in yourself and your own individual experiences. As Christians this message is one that is outright opposition to what God had in store for us. Is this to say that we should not use our experiences in making decisions? Absolutely not. The difference in the message of the world and the message of the Bible is that the first place we need to go when making decisions is to God's word and not our own experiences.
The Bible puts it this way...
Proverbs 3:5Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding
1 Corinthians 10:11These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.
So the next time you are in a situation remember to not look to the GAP for your answer but look to God.
I am sorry it is has been so long since my last post but we have been going fast and furious in Pearland. We went to Harding this past weekend for Bison Daze and we had a blast. I hope you are all blessed today.
Be Strong and Courageous,
Paul

And The Word Became Flesh

Good Morning Everyone,

It has been a long time since my last blog post. Since I last posted we have had a hurricane, I have picked up pieces of what used to be my roof from my yard and seen people helping people in some amazing ways. I was also blessed to spend a few days in Searcy Arkansas for Haring University's 85th annual lectureship. Lectureship was as good as I have ever seen this year. We took our lessons out of the Gospel of John which is my favorite of the four gospels.

I heard so many great things last week that I could probably fill up the rest of this month with posts about it. Instead of doing that I will share with you what I felt like was the most important lesson I took away from the week. To share that lesson with you I will quote John 1:1-2 and John 1:14

John 1:1-2
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.

John 1:14
14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Basically we got a swift kick to the rear from the many presenters at lectureship. I am sorry to say that in our flesh we do not accomplish the same things Jesus accomplished in his flesh. Where Jesus was amongst the people calling them to him and meeting their needs we seem to be happy waiting for people to come to us. I have a new resolve to try to reach people where they are like Jesus did. I believe this to be a good goal but I also know I will need all the help I can get. I covet your prayers and welcome any ideas you may have. I'll try to blog more and I hope this blog has blessed you all as much as you all bless me.

Be Strong and Courageous,
Paul
