Proverbs 5

Good Morning Everyone,

Last night I was blessed to make a small trip up I-10 to eat at Carls' Jr. with Steve Haney and Chris Dunning. We didn't just go to eat great west coast fast food (although that would have been reason enough) rather we were on our way to our staff meeting for our session of Camp Bandina. I love going to camp with our teens every summer and I look forward to see what God has in store for us this June. Today we are going to look at a few passages from Proverbs 5.

Proverbs 5

Proverbs 5:3
3 For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey,
and her speech is smoother than oil

Sin always looks good. I had a professor in college that said he would never be tempted to wash the dishes. To him the dishes were not appealing. Satan will never use something that is not appealing to us on some level to tempt us. As Christians we must understand what tempts us, we must know our limits, and then we have the obligation to never flirt with those limits.

Proverbs 5:21-23

21 For your ways are in full view of the LORD,
and he examines all your paths.
22 The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them;
the cords of their sins hold them fast.
23 For lack of discipline they will die,
led astray by their own great folly.

Discipline is one of those funny things. We all need discipline to wake up in the morning to go to work, to pay our bills and keep living in general. We sometimes view discipline as a necessary evil but really calling it an evil really cheapens something we need to survive. We need discipline to study God's word. When we exercise discipline in studying God's word our lives are blessed.

Sorry this is so short today but I've got a meeting to go to. Enjoy these thoughts and don't be afraid to share some of your own.

Be Strong and Courageous,
Paul
